English as a Foreign Language (EFL)
These courses will help you gain English skills to prepare you for university or work.
Courses are full-time (16 hours per week) or part-time. You will be learning in a class of up to 20 students.
You will study general and academic English, which includes a one-hour tutorial:
- study all four skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking)
- revise and extend your knowledge of English grammar
- improve your pronunciation and vocabulary
- study with students from all over the world!
Activate Learning is not a test centre, but we will help you book your exam at an official centre. Exam costs are not included in this course’s fee.
This course offers you the opportunity to learn English and—at the same time—study another subject of interest.
We offer Plus programmes in a wide variety of subject areas including golf, equine, hairdressing, beauty and travel and tourism and we can also design Plus programmes to suit your own specific needs.
We are very flexible and will try to design a Plus programme that is specifically suited for your needs: your level of English, your education in your home country, and your experience in the areas you would like to study.

English through Art Summer School
In this course, you will develop specialist skills in art and design.
This includes drawing, specialist skills in fashion and ceramics, photography, print and textiles, metal, and design.
You will learn through pair work, group work, evaluation, critique writing, and research into various genres of art and design.
A good IELTS score will help you enter university, Access to HE courses, or employment. If you want to prepare for the IELTS exam or improve your score, then this is the course for you!
You will attend once per week and learn in a class of up to 20 students. To enrol, you should have an intermediate (or above) level of English, and be aged 16+.

SELT / GESE
We offer short courses to help you prepare for a Secure English Language Test (SELT) or Graded English Speaking Exam (GESE) that you can take at a Trinity College London test centre.
These tests are usually accepted for citizenship applications.
Preparation for UK Visas, Citizenship and Settlement: Are you looking to become a British citizen? Do you want to extend your UK visa? We can help prepare you for the UK Visa Extension and ‘Life in the UK’ exams.
Our courses are accredited by the British Council.
General English Language: Full-Time Course
We are a British Council Accredited English Language Centre for the teaching of English as a foreign language. All of our English teachers are dedicated and trained professionals. We offer five levels of English classes:
- upper intermediate
Whether you just want to improve your English for personal reasons or you need to get the right IELTS grade for further study, our English classes will enable you to improve your skills in grammar, speaking, listening, reading and writing, and increase your vocabulary.
It is also possible to take your Cambridge exam at Guildford College; so you could also consider taking KET, PET, FCE, CAE and CPE. Course books are not included in the tuition fee.

Our English language summer school is for students aged 16+ and you can attend for one to six weeks. Our highly-experienced student support team will be here to welcome you to Oxford and give you all the help you need while you’re here in this incredible city!
